What's left behind the scenes
- Jeremy Thorpe passed away in 2014. During his lifetime, such a project could not have been filmed, as the former politician would have certainly filed a lawsuit against its creators. The fact is that, at the time, the court dropped all conspiracy to murder charges against Thorpe, and Thorpe himself never admitted to being gay.
- On the advice of director Stephen Frears, actor Ben Whishaw met with Norman Scott, whom he portrayed on screen, to hear his version of the events that formed the basis of the plot.
- Jeremy Thorpe became the first British politician to be tried on charges of conspiracy to murder. Thorpe's guilt was never proven, but the scandal brought his political career to an end.
