What's left behind the scenes

  • The logo of the 'Heritage' program includes several hidden references and clues for the viewer. The first is the unity and peaceful coexistence of science and nature within the tree's crown, which the authors believe is the only way forward for humanity. The second is a direct reference to the symbol of the Great Tree, which figures in the foundations of many world cultures and religions (Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life, the Garden of Eden's tree, etc.) and signifies the unity of the past, present, and future.
  • The impulsivity of the characters' actions is caused by the dissonance between their physical and psychological development due to an accelerated growth program. Their limited vocabulary and strange manner of speaking stem from the fact that almost all of their knowledge was acquired from a computer program and a small number of scientists; they use the lexical structures, words, and phrases they gathered from training materials and through interaction with a limited circle of people.
  • The creators of the idea, Alexey Golubev and Alexander Zheltukhin, appear in two episodes in cameos as geologist scientists who are planning to blow up a mountain.
  • The character 'Nick,' played by Svyatoslav Korolev, initially had almost no lines, but after the first day of filming, his performance impressed the director so much that an expanded storyline was written for him, which made it into the final cut.
  • All materials used in the construction of the first-generation city sets do not decompose for 100 years.
  • Consultants from various scientific fields were involved in the creation of the films. The foundations of the programs developed by Titov and the Gordeyevs have real-life prototypes: among them are existing programs and technologies for artificial insemination, cryonics, cloning, and the administration of artificial growth acceleration hormones.
  • With the exception of Maxim and Anya, all representatives of the first three generations have serial numbers, which is the authors' way of distinguishing these characters from the other 'children of the future'.
  • The series was filmed in an actual abandoned city of forty thousand people and a real, defunct Cold War-era missile silo.
