What's left behind the scenes
- The main character, played by Colin Ford, drives a car with a license plate that reads "FURYRD." This is a reference to George Miller's sci-fi action film "Mad Max: Fury Road" (2015).
- The shopping mall where the main characters take refuge is a set filled with actual merchandise placed throughout.
- The film contains several references to John Hughes' comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986)—and not just the fact that Matthew Broderick plays the lead in Hughes' film, while Michael Barra plays him here. Colin Ford delivers the famous line, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it," slightly altering it to: "Everything mutates fast. If you stop and look around, you'll be eaten." The beginning of the first episode features a scene with a teacher. Josh drives a red Ferrari. Josh's character frequently addresses the audience directly.
