What's left behind the scenes
- The series is based on true events, but much of it is still a product of the screenwriters' imagination. For example, only five of the characters, including the one played by Vegar Hul, had real-life counterparts. The other characters were either based on real people or simply invented. The Ocean Viking oil platform actually exists, as does the Esso Motor Hotel (though it was built after the events depicted in the series). The Nyman company is fictional, but it incorporates traits of real companies.
- The creators of the series intentionally chose not to show the characters speaking in high-pitched voices underwater (an effect caused by inhaling helium) so that the audience wouldn't find it funny.
