Short description
After Earth is ravaged by a great religious war, an atheistic android architect sends two of his creations, Mother and Father, to start a peaceful, godless colony on the planet Kepler-22b. Their treacherous task is jeopardized by the arrival of the Mithraic, a deeply devout religious order of surviving humans.

What's left behind the scenes
- When the Mother is asked for her name, she answers: 'Lamia.' In ancient Greek mythology, Lamia was a woman who turned into a child-devouring monster after Hera killed her own children upon discovering that Zeus was cheating on her with Lamia. Additionally, Hera cursed Lamia with eternal wakefulness so that she would constantly mourn her children and her fate.
- At the very beginning, when the starship first arrives on planet Kepler-22b, some shots are taken from Ridley Scott's science fiction film "Prometheus" (2012).
- The religious cult mentioned in the film is called the Mysteries of Mithras or Mithraism; it was indeed widespread within the Roman army from the 1st to the 4th centuries AD.
- Filming took place in Cape Town, South Africa, at Film Afrika Studios, as well as in the Western Cape province of South Africa (where the surface of Kepler-22b and the scenes inside the Mithraists' starship were filmed). The desert regions north of Cape Town were perfectly suited for filming on a planet that is habitable, yet can hardly be called overly welcoming.
