What's left behind the scenes
- In 1988, the largest set ever created for a soap opera was built for the series. Multi-leveled, nearly 10 meters high and capable of rotating on its axis, it was constructed in a separate studio.
- The map of Llanview was based on a map of downtown Philadelphia.
- In 1988, a test pit drilling machine had to be acquired for the series. The people involved in the operation to rescue the main characters were not actors; they were professionals skilled in operating such equipment.
