What's left behind the scenes
- Initially, screenwriter and producer Maxwell Atoms wanted Death to have a British accent and intended to offer the voice role to Jonathan Harris. Greg Eagles spoke with a Jamaican accent during his audition, and Atoms liked it so much that he gave the role to Eagles.
- The series began with a 1996 short film by Maxwell Atoms. In it, Billy wanted to get rid of his inner demons, Mandy dreamed of sawing him in half, and Death appeared as the plot progressed. Billy looked practically the same in the short as he did in the series, whereas Mandy initially had pigtails, a devilish smirk, and a nose.
- The gibberish heard on screen at the end of the final credits is actually Maxwell Atoms' voice played in reverse, saying: 'No, no. This is the end. And you're watching it all backwards.'
- The project was initially offered to Nickelodeon, but they rejected it. After that, Maxwell Atoms pitched the project to Cartoon Network, where it was well-received.
