What's left behind the scenes
- The names contain several references to William Shakespeare's (1564-1616) comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (1595). Philostrate and Bottom are minor characters in the comedy. References can also be made to Shakespeare's Puck (or Robin Goodfellow), Titania, Egeus, and others.
- The screen adaptation rights were acquired by Legendary Studios, who had many competitors. In the early stages of the project, directing negotiations were held with Guillermo del Toro, Neil Jordan, and Tarsem Singh, but it was ultimately decided to make it a television series.
- The land of the fey is called Tir na nOg. In Celtic mythology, Tir na nOg is the land of eternal youth.
