What's left behind the scenes
- Initially, Xiao Zhan's character (who played Wei Wuxian) wore his hair in a topknot that stuck upward, but it was later decided to scrap this detail because the actor was already taller than Wang Yibo (who played Lan Wangji), whereas it was supposed to be the other way around. They even tried to design a hairstyle for Wang Yibo to make him appear taller than Zhan, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
- The film was shot during the summer at the Hengdian World Studio pavilions in Hengdian, China. Air temperatures often approached 50 degrees Celsius, and the lighting equipment added to the heat, causing the actors involved in the project to frequently faint from the stifling air.
