What's left behind the scenes
- Three of the main male characters from the original novels were replaced by women.
- The series features followers of a religion called 'luminism.' They believe in a goddess depicted in three hypostases—as the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. This image was based on the goddess Hecate, known as the Triple Goddess, who is associated with magic, mists, sorcery, witchcraft, ghosts, and the moon, and is identified with crossroads and doorways. In Roman mythology, this is the goddess Trivia.
