Under Paris

A giant shark appears in the Seine, and a grieving scientist named Sophia must confront a painful chapter of her past in order to prevent a massacre in the heart of Paris. As the crisis grows, the city itself becomes the setting for a struggle between a threat from the water and the authorities trying to contain it.

Xavier Gens directs and shares writing duties with Yannick Dahan and Maud Heywang. The film is the ninth feature Gens directed according to the chronology of his work, arriving after Mayhem! (2023) and following earlier titles such as Frontier(s), Hitman and Cold Skin. Bérénice Bejo leads as Sophia Assalas, alongside Nassim Lyes, Léa Léviant, Sandra Parfait, Aksel Üstün and Aurélia Petit. Vincent Roget produced the French production, which runs 102 minutes and mixes action, horror, mystery and thriller elements.

Under Paris was released in June 2024. On IMDb it holds 5.2 out of 10 from roughly 39,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.9 from a much smaller base of about 1,450 votes. A critics' rating of 5.9 from 42 reviews places professional assessment close to the audience score on TMDB and slightly above the IMDb figure.
