Lalibela

Set in a Ukrainian village just before Easter, this drama and thriller focuses on the tension that arises when a religious image of the Ethiopian Mother of God arrives at the local church. The presence of the dark-skinned figure in the icon causes a clash between the village parishioners and their young priest. This disagreement leads to an act of vandalism when someone breaks into the church to slash the artwork, after which the icon begins to exude myrrh.

The film was directed by Anna Morozova, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Maryna Artemenko and Oksana Artemenko. The production was handled by MIR AND CO PRODUCTION with Kyrylo Nechmonia and Myroslav Hai serving as producers. The cast features Olexa Gorodenko in the role of grandfather Petro. Released on October 19, 2022, the movie has a runtime of 26 minutes.
