Dragon Wars: D-War follows Ethan Kendrick, who as a boy learns from an antiques dealer that he carries the reincarnated spirit of a Korean warrior. According to the legend, that warrior failed five centuries earlier to protect his beloved from a giant serpent, and in the present day the creature returns to finish what it began. Now a reporter, Ethan meets Sarah Daniels, the woman he believes holds the counterpart soul, and the two must confront the ancient threat that descends on Los Angeles.
The film is a US-Korean co-production directed and written by Shim Hyung-rae, who made it as his first feature before The Last Godfather. Jason Behr and Amanda Brooks lead the cast, with Robert Forster, Craig Robinson, Aimee Garcia and Chris Mulkey in supporting roles. It draws on Korean folklore for its premise and builds its conflict around the creature's hunt through the city.
Made for a reported budget of 32 million USD, the film returned roughly 75 million USD worldwide. Audience response has been low, with a rating of 3.5/10 on IMDb from about 25,000 votes and 4.6/10 on TMDB from under 500 votes. A critics' rating of 4/10 from 38 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
