There's Still Tomorrow is set in postwar Rome, where Delia, a working-class mother of three, keeps her household running while enduring an abusive marriage to her domineering husband, Ivano. The family is preoccupied with the coming engagement of their eldest daughter, Marcella, who longs to marry a respectable middle-class young man and leave her embarrassing relatives behind. Delia takes what comfort she can from her friend Marisa. When a mysterious letter arrives, it gives Delia the resolve to imagine a different life for herself and her daughter and to push back against the man who controls her.
The film marks the directorial debut of Paola Cortellesi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Giulia Calenda and Furio Andreotti and stars as Delia. Valerio Mastandrea plays Ivano, with Romana Maggiora Vergano as Marcella, Emanuela Fanelli as Marisa, Giorgio Colangeli and Vinicio Marchioni in supporting roles. It was produced by Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Gangarossa for Vision Distribution, Wildside and Sky Studios, on a budget of about 9 million dollars, and went on to earn roughly 50 million dollars worldwide, a strong return for its cost. On IMDb it holds 7.7 out of 10 from around 18,000 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 8.1 from more than 1,500 votes, indicating wide approval from viewers.
