- This is Giovanni Ribisi's debut as a cinematographer. He is better known as an actor, having appeared in over 100 films.
- Miramax twice attempted to take the project away from JT Mollner, the director and screenwriter, and eventually hired someone to edit a new version of the film behind the backs of Mollner and the overall creative team. This version of the movie was less than 70 minutes long, and the events were presented in chronological order. It all ended with Mollner invoking a clause in his contract that required a test screening of the director's cut. According to cinematographer Giovanni Ribisi, the filmmakers had already resigned themselves to the loss of their version of the film, but the enthusiastic reaction of the audience at the test screening convinced Miramax to leave the final edit to the creators.
