Short description
Fantastic Mr. Fox is a stop-motion animated adventure based on Roald Dahl's children's book. Mr. Fox, voiced by George Clooney, leads a comfortable family life with his wife, voiced by Meryl Streep, and their son Ash, but he misses his old days of raiding poultry farms. When the family moves near the operations of three wealthy and unpleasant farmers named Boggis, Bunce and Bean, Mr. Fox cannot resist returning to his old habits. The farmers respond by hunting him and his family, and the conflict widens to involve the whole community of burrowing animals, forcing Mr. Fox to devise a plan to get everyone out of danger.
Wes Anderson directed and wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach. The film is the eighth of the twenty-six titles he has directed in chronological order, coming after Hotel Chevalier and before Moonrise Kingdom. Alongside Clooney and Streep, the voice cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Eric Chase Anderson, Wallace Wolodarsky and Willem Dafoe.
It was released in 2009 and runs 87 minutes. Made for about 40 million dollars, it took in roughly 46 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.9 from around 303,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.8 from over 6,000 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 8.1 from 246 reviews.

- The film is based on Roald Dahl's story "Fantastic Mr Fox" (Fantastic Mr Fox, 1974).
- Anderson told the set designers that they should use real trees and sand, but in miniature.
- Wes Anderson decided to record the actors not in a studio, but at various locations to create a sense of naturalism.
- Henry Selick was confirmed as the animation director, but soon Selick left the project to work on the adaptation of Neil Gaiman's book “Coraline”.
