Set in the swamps of 1960s Louisiana, The Blind tells the story of Phil Robertson and his wife Kay, long before the couple became known through the Duck Dynasty reality series. Phil falls in love with Kay and starts a family, but his drinking, his violent temper and the shame of his past put the marriage under severe strain. As a husband and father he struggles with his own demons, and the film follows his search for redemption, which he finds somewhere unexpected.
Andrew Hyatt directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Stephanie Katz; the film sits between his earlier Paul, Apostle of Christ and his later Sight. Aron von Andrian plays Phil as an adult, with Matthew Erick White and Ronan Carroll as younger versions of the character, while Amelia Eve plays Kay, also portrayed at younger ages by Brielle Robillard and Scarlett Abinante. Willie and Korie Robertson are among the producers.
Released in September 2023, the film runs 110 minutes and blends drama with family, history, romance and thriller elements. Made for about 30 million dollars, it took in roughly 17 million worldwide, a commercial shortfall. On IMDb it holds 6.3 from around 3,000 votes, and on TMDB 6 from a much smaller group of 54, a modest reception from audiences.
