Mad Dog and Glory

Wayne Dobie is a shy, soft-spoken police photographer whose colleagues have given him the ironic nickname "Mad Dog." After he saves the life of Frank Milo, a gangster who also performs as a stand-up comedian, Milo offers him a thank-you gift: the company of a young woman named Glory, who is in his debt. Wayne and Glory are both uncertain about the arrangement at first, but they gradually grow close. The situation turns difficult when Milo wants Glory back.

The film was directed by John McNaughton, its fifth feature after Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll and The Borrower, and it was written by Richard Price. Robert De Niro plays Wayne, Uma Thurman plays Glory and Bill Murray plays Milo, with David Caruso, Mike Starr and Tom Towles among a credited cast of 33. Martin Scorsese and Barbara De Fina produced. Made for about 19 million dollars, it took in roughly 11 million worldwide. On IMDb, users rate it 6 out of 10 from 414 votes; a critics' rating of 6.3 out of 10 from 32 reviews places critical and audience response at a similar level.
