Mindcage

Mindcage is a crime thriller about two detectives, Jake Doyle and Mary Kelly, who are trying to stop a serial killer. The murderer stages elaborate, grotesque crime scenes that appear to be copied from the work of an imprisoned killer known as The Artist. Unable to make progress on their own, Jake and Mary turn to the jailed man for insight. Mary visits him in prison and tries to extract useful information from his warped mind, but The Artist uses the attention to his own advantage, pulling the detectives into an elaborate game and keeping them chasing leads rather than catching up with either him or his imitator.

Mauro Borrelli directed the film, which came after his earlier features Haunted Forest, The Ghostmaker and The Recall and before WarHunt and The Last Supper. Reggie Keyohara III wrote the screenplay, and Cassandra Gava, Daniel Grodnik and Oscar Generale produced for Lionsgate, BondIt, Buffalo 8 and Daniel Grodnik Productions. Martin Lawrence plays Jake Doyle, Melissa Roxburgh plays Mary Kelly, and John Malkovich plays The Artist. Aiden Turner, Jacob Grodnik and Chris Mullinax are among the supporting cast. The film runs 97 minutes.

Mindcage was released in December 2022. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.6 from roughly 9,100 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.9 from around 444 votes. The two audience scores therefore differ noticeably, with the larger IMDb sample landing lower than the smaller TMDB one.
