Birth/Rebirth

Birth/Rebirth follows two women whose lives collide after a child's death. Rose is a pathologist who works with the dead and is driven by an obsession with bringing them back. Celie is a maternity nurse and single mother whose six-year-old daughter, Lila, falls suddenly ill and dies. When Rose manages to reanimate the girl, the two women are left bound together by their connection to Lila, and the arrangement that keeps her alive pulls them toward choices with no way back.

The film is directed by Lee Moss, who wrote the screenplay with Brendan Jamieson O'Brien. It is a drama with horror, mystery, science fiction and thriller elements, running 99 minutes, and was produced by Mali Elfman and David Grove Churchill Viste for Shudder, Retrospecter Films, Elfman + Viste and Muriel Is Alive. Marin Ireland plays Dr. Rose Casper and Judy Reyes plays Celie Morales, with A.J. Lister as Lila, alongside Breeda Wool, Monique Gabriela Curnen and LaChanze among a credited cast of 21.

Released in August 2023, the film drew a critics' rating of 7.5 out of 10 from 96 reviews, notably higher than its audience score of 6.5 out of 10 on TMDB from 198 votes.
