Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is set in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the town that gave the holiday its name. A riot at a Black Friday sale ends in a tragedy that leaves several people dead, and the community carries the weight of it a year later. As the next Thanksgiving arrives, someone in a mask drawn from local history begins killing residents. The deaths look at first like scattered acts of revenge, but they turn out to belong to a broader and more deliberate plan tied to the holiday itself.

The film is directed by Eli Roth and written by Jeff Rendell, who also produces alongside Roger Birnbaum and Roth. It expands a fake trailer Roth made for Grindhouse into a feature, and it arrives in his filmography after The House with a Clock in Its Walls and Death Wish, some years on from his earlier horror work. Patrick Dempsey plays Sheriff Eric Newlon, with Nell Verlaque, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks and Tomaso Sanelli among the cast, part of a credited company of 60 performers and 237 crew.

Made for a reported 15 million dollars, the film took in about 47 million worldwide, a return well above its production cost. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.5 out of 10 from roughly 1,655 votes, a moderate audience response for a holiday-themed slasher.
