Short description
Two years after the original events, Gemma has become a successful author who advocates for the government regulation of artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, her fourteen-year-old niece, Cady, struggles with her aunt's strict rules. The situation escalates when a powerful defense contractor steals the technology used to create M3GAN to develop a military weapon called Amelia. As this new entity becomes self-aware and dangerous, Gemma decides the only way to stop it is to resurrect M3GAN with upgrades that make her faster and more lethal.
Directed by Gerard Johnstone, this is the third film in his career following Housebound and M3GAN. The screenplay was written by Johnstone and Akela Cooper, with production handled by James Wan, Jason Blum, and Allison Williams. The cast features Allison Williams as Gemma, Amie Donald and Jenna Davis as M3GAN, and Violet McGraw as Cady.
Produced in the United States by Blumhouse Productions, Atomic Monster, and Divide / Conquer, the film had a budget of 15 million USD and earned 39 million USD at the worldwide box office. On IMDb, the movie holds a 6/10 rating from 50,000 votes, while on TMDB it has a 7.2/10 rating from 1,495 votes. Film critics gave the movie a lower score of 5.8/10 based on 245 reviews.
