The Klezmer Project

The Klezmer Project follows Leandro, a cameraman who films Jewish weddings and has little interest in his own family background. At one of these weddings he falls for Paloma, a clarinetist who plays in a klezmer band devoted to Yiddish folk music. To stay close to her, he invents a documentary project about klezmer music, and the two set off together on an unpredictable journey through Eastern Europe in search of melodies that have been kept alive by Roma communities. The film blends documentary and fiction, and its search for a musical tradition becomes a personal journey as well. The original title is Adentro mío estoy bailando.

The film was released in 2024 and runs 117 minutes, mixing comedy, documentary, drama, music and romance. It is an Austrian and Argentine production from Nabis Filmgroup, Greenwich Entertainment and Nevada Cine. Leandro Koch and Paloma Schachmann directed it together, wrote the screenplay and produced it, and they also play the central characters Leandro and Paloma. The cast includes Perla Sneh as the narrator, Rebeca Yanover as Rebeca, and César Lerner and Marcelo Moguilevsky as themselves. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.5 out of 10 from around 110 votes, a modest score from a small audience.
