Short description
Set in 1983, this crime thriller follows FBI agent Terry Husk as he investigates a wave of violent robberies, bombings, and counterfeiting operations across the Pacific Northwest. While other law enforcement officers search for answers, Husk suspects that these crimes are not motivated by money. He believes a coordinated group of domestic terrorists, led by a radical white supremacist, is following a specific plan to incite a race war and overthrow the United States federal government.
The film was directed by Justin Kurzel, following his previous work on Nitram. It was produced by Jude Law, Bryan Haas, and Justin Kurzel, with a screenplay by Zach Baylin. The cast features Jude Law as Terry Husk and Nicholas Hoult as Robert Jay Mathews, alongside Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, Alison Oliver, and Odessa Young.
Produced with a budget of 20 million USD, the movie earned 2 million USD at the worldwide box office. It holds a rating of 6.8/10 on IMDb from 61,000 votes and 6.6/10 on TMDB from 960 votes. Film critics gave the movie a higher rating of 7.6/10 based on 162 reviews.
What's left behind the scenes
- Once, director Justin Kurzel instructed Nicholas Hoult to follow Jude Law around all day, but warned him that Law shouldn't know about it.
- Nicholas Hoult (who played Bob) later told reporters that for the first four weeks of filming, he and Jude Law (who played Terry, Bob's enemy) did not speak to each other at all and tried to avoid interacting, in order to distance themselves from each other as much as possible.
