Native Son

Set in 1940s Chicago, this drama follows a young Black man who finds employment as a chauffeur for a wealthy white family. The situation becomes dire after he accidentally causes the death of the couple's teenage daughter. Fearing the consequences and the lack of a fair trial, he attempts to hide the crime and deflect suspicion toward another individual.

Directed by Jerrold Freedman, this project followed his previous films Blood Sport and Borderline. The screenplay was written by Richard Wright and Richard Wesley, with Diane Silver serving as producer. The cast features Victor Love in the lead role, alongside Matt Dillon, Elizabeth McGovern, Geraldine Page, Oprah Winfrey, and Akosua Busia.
