Teaches of Peaches

This music documentary follows the evolution of Canadian musician Merrill Nisker, known professionally as Peaches. The film explores her journey from a music teacher to an internationally recognized electro-clash artist who uses her work to challenge patriarchal views and gender norms. By blending personal archive footage with recordings from the 2022 anniversary tour for her album The Teaches of Peaches, the story examines her career and her commitment to queer-feminist advocacy and sexual identity.

The film was directed by Philipp Fussenegger, marking the first in a chronological sequence of his work that includes KitKatClub: Kinks of Berlin. Produced in Germany by companies including ZDF and ARTE, the documentary features Peaches appearing as herself alongside other contributors such as Leslie Feist, Chilly Gonzales, Shirley Manson, Charlie le Mindu, and Black Cracker. The screenplay was written by Schyda Vasseghi and Cordula Kablitz-Post, the latter of whom also served as the producer. Released on May 9, 2024, the production has a total runtime of 102 minutes.
