Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie is an animated fantasy adventure released in 2004. It continues the story of Yugi Mutou, a young duelist who shares his body with an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. After a major card tournament, an evil force stirs beneath the Egyptian desert: Anubis, a foe the pharaoh defeated long ago, returns seeking revenge and world domination. When Yugi faces his rival Seto Kaiba in a duel, a mysterious card draws those present into a deadly shadow game involving Yugi, Kaiba, the pharaoh and the revived Anubis. The film adapts the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and television series, with its card duels and monsters forming the center of the conflict.

Hatsuki Tsuji directed, working from a screenplay by Michael Pecoriello and Norman J. Grossfeld, who also produced. It was Tsuji's second feature, following Samurai X: The Motion Picture in 1997. The English voice cast includes Dan Green as Yugi and the pharaoh, Eric Stuart as Kaiba, Scott Rayow as Anubis, Wayne Grayson as Joey Wheeler, Gregory Abbey as Tristan Taylor and Amy Birnbaum as Téa Gardner. It was made for about 20 million dollars and took roughly 29 million worldwide.

On IMDb it holds 5 out of 10 from around 9,600 votes, and on TMDB 6.1 out of 10 from 387 votes, indicating a modest audience response. Critics were harder on it, giving 3.8 out of 10 across 66 reviews.
