A Beautiful Imperfection

A Beautiful Imperfection is a drama about the relationship between Lucia and Giacomo Casanova. After contracting smallpox, which leaves her face scarred, Lucia leaves Italy for Amsterdam to start a new life. Sixteen years later, she has become a renowned veiled courtesan. When she and Casanova meet again, he does not recognize her, and the two begin a romantic involvement. Lucia keeps her identity and her appearance hidden as she navigates her feelings for her former love.

The film was directed by Michiel van Erp, following his 2022 project Stromboli and preceding his 2026 film Downtown. The screenplay was written by Ursula Rani Sarma and produced by Maarten Swart. The main cast includes Dar Zuzovsky in the role of Lucia and Jonah Hauer-King as Giacomo Casanova, with Sam Hazeldine, Ruth Becquart, Maarten Heijmans, and Gaia Bermani Amaral in supporting roles.
