Milli Vanilli

This documentary drama examines the rise and fall of the pop duo Milli Vanilli. Robert Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan, who bonded over similar difficult childhoods in Germany, achieved global stardom and won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist by 1990. However, their success was based on a deception orchestrated by producer Frank Farian, who used other singers for the recordings while the duo acted as the visual face of the project. The film explores the subsequent public scandal when it was revealed that the pair did not actually sing their hits, leading to a sudden loss of fame and significant personal hardship.

Directed by Luke Korem, the film features Fab Morvan and archive footage of Rob Pilatus. The production includes appearances by industry figures such as Timbaland, Diane Warren, and Downtown Julie Brown, as well as Todd Headlee. Produced by MRC, Keep On Running Pictures, MTV Documentary Films, and MRC Non-Fiction, the movie has a runtime of 106 minutes. Audience reception has been positive, with a rating of 7.5/10 on IMDb based on 3,500 votes and a score of 7/10 on TMDB from 67 votes.
