A young woman studying nursing travels from the city to her grandparents' rural home, where the warmth of the family reunion gradually gives way to something unsettling. What she finds in the house eventually reveals the source of her grandparents' long happiness, and the discovery forces her to confront her own choices, her state of mind and the nature of reality around her. The story draws on the director's earlier short film of the same name, which was recognized at the Japan Horror Film Awards.
The film is directed by Yûta Shimotsu, who also made a 2022 work titled Best Wishes to All and followed this one with New Group in 2026. The screenplay is by Rumi Kakuta, with Chikako Nakabayashi and Tsuyoshi Kobayashi among the producers. It runs 89 minutes and was released in January 2024.
Reception was moderate across the board. On IMDb it holds a 6.1 rating from roughly 1,600 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.7 from a much smaller sample of 48 votes. The film critics' rating stands at 6.5 from 31 reviews, broadly in line with the audience scores rather than sharply divided from them, suggesting a film that satisfies its viewers without drawing strong acclaim.
