Short description
The Phoenician Scheme follows Zsa-zsa Korda, a wealthy businessman who names his daughter, a nun, as the sole heir to his estate. Set against a backdrop of international business and espionage, the two navigate a strained relationship while facing threats from rival tycoons, assassins, and foreign terrorists. As Korda pursues a massive new enterprise, the family must contend with betrayal and political intrigue to protect their legacy.
Written and directed by Wes Anderson, this is the 26th film in his career, following 2024's Montblanc - 100 years of Meisterstück. The movie features an ensemble cast including Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, and Bryan Cranston. A co-production between Germany and the United States, the film was produced by Studio Babelsberg, Indian Paintbrush, and American Empirical Pictures.
The production had a budget of 30 million USD and earned 41 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is moderately positive, with a 6.6 rating on IMDb from 66,000 votes and a 6.5 rating on TMDB from 1,052 votes. Film critics gave the movie a slightly higher score of 6.8 based on 304 reviews.
