The film was re-edited three times, removing strong language and scenes of violence, until it finally met the criteria for a PG-13 rating (not recommended for children under 13) by the American Film Association. A total of 23 minutes of footage was cut.
The original version of the film lasted 111 minutes, but it was cut down to 89 minutes, resulting in numerous plot holes, with many characters appearing and disappearing from the story without explanation.
