Repulsion

Repulsion is a British psychological horror film about Carol Ledoux, a Belgian manicurist living in London with her older sister Hélène. Carol is withdrawn and deeply uncomfortable around men, including Colin, who persistently courts her, and Michael, her sister's married lover. When Hélène leaves for an Italian holiday with Michael, Carol stays behind alone in the flat. Her isolation deepens into withdrawal from work and the outside world, and she begins to experience hallucinations that blur the line between reality and delusion. The apartment itself seems to transform around her as her mental state deteriorates.

The film was directed by Roman Polanski, his second feature after Knife in the Water and before The Fearless Vampire Killers, from a screenplay he wrote with Gérard Brach. Catherine Deneuve plays Carol, with Ian Hendry as Michael, John Fraser as Colin, Yvonne Furneaux as Hélène, Patrick Wymark and Renée Houston in supporting roles. Produced by Gene Gutowski for Compton Films and Tekli British Productions, it runs 105 minutes.

It earned a critics' rating of 8.9 out of 10 from 67 reviews, noticeably higher than its audience score of 7.4 out of 10 on TMDB from over a thousand votes. It took around 3 million dollars worldwide.
