Vedaa

Vedaa centers on a young woman from a disadvantaged caste who dreams of becoming a boxer and refuses to accept the place society has assigned her. Her path crosses with that of Abhimanyu Kanwar, a soldier who has been dismissed from service and carries the weight of a traumatic past. He becomes her ally as she pushes back against a hostile environment and the people determined to keep her down, and the two of them take on a system that is stacked against them. The film is an action drama set in India, running just over two and a half hours.

Nikkhil Advani directed, working from a screenplay by Aseem Arora. It is the fourth film in the directing chronology listed for Advani, arriving after Kal Ho Naa Ho, Chandni Chowk to China and Hero. John Abraham plays Abhimanyu Kanwar and also produces alongside Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani. Sharvari plays Vedaa Berwa, with Abhishek Banerjee, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Kshitij Chauhan and Tamannaah Bhatia among the credited cast of twenty-one.

Released in August 2024, the film has drawn modest audience scores: 6 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 4,900 votes, and 5.9 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller pool of 22 votes. The large gap in vote counts means the IMDb figure reflects a far broader sample of viewers.
