After causing a car accident while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, twenty-five-year-old Carlo is sentenced to a year of community service. He is assigned to the Villa Bianca nursing home, where he serves his sentence alongside other non-violent offenders. While Carlo initially views the assignment as a burden, his interactions with the residents lead to a shift in his perspective on life. He develops a particularly significant bond with Dino, an educated and sarcastic eighty-year-old man who has made several suicide attempts.
