Jam Films is a Japanese anthology released in 2002 that combines seven short stories blending comedy, drama, and fantasy. The collection features a variety of unrelated scenarios, including a yakuza leader encountering a mysterious woman, a man finding an unexpected toy in his shopping bag, and a student distracted by his classmates during a history lesson. Other segments involve a hostage situation and a person waking up in a strange machine.
The project was produced by Sega and Amuse. It features contributions from several directors, including Daizaburo Hanada and George Iida. Ryûhei Kitamura directed this as his second of 13 films, following Versus. Rokurō Mochizuki followed Minazuki with this work, while Tetsuo Shinohara began his directing history with this production. Yukihiko Tsutsumi followed his 1995 project, and Isao Yukisada followed GO. Shunji Iwai directed this as his seventh of 16 films, positioned between All About Lily Chou-Chou and Hana & Alice.
The cast includes Ryoko Shinohara, Kanae Uotani, Megumi Ujiie, and Masayoshi Yamazaki. The screenplay was written by George Iida, Shunji Iwai, and Rokurō Mochizuki. Audience reception has been positive, with a rating of 6.8 on IMDb based on 584 votes and a higher score of 7.9 on TMDB from 23 votes.
