When translated into Russian, the name of the main character, the ghost Hui Buh, sounds very vulgar, so the translators used the name U-Bu.
Filming took place in Munich (Germany) and Prague (Czech Republic) from February 14th to April 29th, 2005.
The film is based on the novel by German writer Eberhard Alexander Burgh.
The well-known German actor Hans Clarin voiced the ghost of Ui-Bu in numerous German radio productions for more than two decades, becoming a kind of hallmark of the series. In recognition of his services, he was given the role of the castellan of Burg Eck Castle, and after he died shortly after filming ended, the film was dedicated to his memory.
