This German drama explores the romantic and creative partnership between artists Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky in early 20th-century Bavaria. As co-founders of the modern art movement known as Der Blaue Reiter, the couple collaborated closely while attempting to revolutionize the understanding of painting. However, the relationship was marked by a growing imbalance in recognition, as Kandinsky achieved significant financial success and fame while Münter remained largely overshadowed by his reputation.
Directed by Marcus O. Rosenmüller, this production is the third film in a sequence that includes Letztes Kapitel and Wunderkinder, preceding the 2026 release of Block 10. The screenplay and production were handled by Alice Brauner. The lead roles are played by Vanessa Loibl as Münter and Vladimir Burlakov as Kandinsky, supported by a cast of 45 credited actors, including Julian Koechlin as Paul Klee and Felix Klare as Franz Marc.
The film has a runtime of 126 minutes. Audience reception has been moderate, with a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb based on 181 votes.
