Munjya is an Indian comedy horror film about a young man whose trip back to his home village brings him face to face with a long-hidden family secret. At the center of that secret is a vengeful spirit named Munjya, whose desire to marry drives the conflict. The young man must find a way to defend himself and the woman he loves from the spirit's pursuit, and the result is an adventure that mixes fear with comedy.
The film is a Maddock Films production, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar from a screenplay by Yogesh Chandekar and Niren Bhatt, with Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik producing. It followed Sarpotdar's Classmates, Faster Fene and Zombivli, and was released in 2024, in the same year as his Kakuda. The cast is led by Abhay Verma as Bittu and Sharvari as Bela, alongside Ayush Ulagadde as the spirit Gotya "Munjya", Mona Singh as Pammi, Suhas Joshi as Geeta "Ajji" and Taran Singh as "Spielberg" Singh.
Made on a budget of about 4 million USD, Munjya went on to earn roughly 16 million USD worldwide, a return that indicates it found a substantial audience. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.2 out of 10 from 44 votes, suggesting a moderate audience response. It stands as the fourth entry in the same shared universe of horror comedies from Maddock Films.
