Toomorrow is a British science fiction musical comedy about a group of students who support their studies by performing as a pop band of the same name. Their music attracts the attention of an alien being, drawn by the sound waves produced by a device known as a tonaliser, and the band is taken away to entertain an extraterrestrial population.
The film was directed by Val Guest, who also wrote the screenplay, and produced by Don Kirshner and Harry Saltzman. It followed several earlier Guest pictures, among them The Quatermass Xperiment, Quatermass 2, Casino Royale and Assignment K. Olivia Newton-John appears as Olivia, alongside Benny Thomas, Vic Cooper, Karl Chambers, Roy Dotrice and Imogen Hassall, in a credited cast of twenty-nine. Running about ninety-five minutes, it was released in August 1970.
Audience response has been modest: on IMDb it holds a rating of 5.1 from 325 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 4.6 from a small number of votes. The film sits among the music-driven science fiction comedies of its era, built around a fictional band and its otherworldly encounter.
