The Beast of Comedy

The Beast of Comedy is a drama about Tsuchiya, a young man in Osaka who avoids traditional employment after high school to focus on writing jokes for a variety show. Driven by a desire for recognition, he spends his days submitting vast amounts of material. After meeting a drifter named Pink and finding work at a bar, Tsuchiya shifts his focus to writing for a radio program. His efforts gain traction when a member of the comedy duo Bacon expresses admiration for his work and suggests a collaboration. This encourages Tsuchiya to leave his home and travel to Tokyo in pursuit of a professional comedy career.

The film was directed by Kengo Takimoto, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Shin Adachi and Tomoyuki Yamaguchi. The production was handled by Animoproduce with Minori Maehara serving as producer. Released on January 5, 2024, the movie has a runtime of 116 minutes.
