Oddity is an Irish-American horror film centred on Darcy, a blind medium who deals in cursed and haunted objects. A year after her twin sister Dani was murdered in the remote country house she shared with her husband Ted, Darcy arrives unannounced at the same house, where Ted now lives with his new partner Yana. Ted, a psychiatrist, had been suspected of nothing, but a patient of his institution was blamed for the killing and then found dead. Convinced that the truth was never uncovered, Darcy brings the most dangerous pieces from her collection of haunted curiosities, among them a wooden mannequin tied to the tragedy, and sets out to expose those responsible.
The film was written and directed by Damian McCarthy, following his 2021 debut Caveat and preceding Hokum in 2026. Carolyn Bracken plays both twin sisters, with Gwilym Lee as Ted, Caroline Menton as Yana, Steve Wall as Ivan, Joe Rooney as Bernie and Tadhg Murphy as Olin Boole. Katie Holly, Laura Tunstall and Mette-Marie Kongsved produced for Shudder, Nowhere and Keeper Pictures. It runs 98 minutes.
Released in July 2024, the film took around 2 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.7 out of 10 from roughly 56,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.7 from about 900 votes. A critics' rating of 7.6 from 132 reviews places it somewhat above those audience scores.
