Tiger on the Rocks is a documentary and history film that explores the legacy of the thylacine in Australia. The narrative examines the animal from multiple perspectives, contrasting its reputation as a predator of livestock with its status as a victim of human-caused extinction. Through interviews with archaeologists, biologists, First Nations artists, and land custodians, the film discusses the creature's presence in ancient rock art and ancestral spirits. These diverse viewpoints are used to highlight the intrinsic links between nature, culture, and the environment.
Written and directed by Cathryn Vasseleu, the film was produced by Pat Fiske and Bower Bird Films. The production features the voice of Rachael Maza Long as the narrator. Released on September 20, 2022, the film has a runtime of 55 minutes.
