The Savage Guns

Set in a Mexican valley in Sonora, shortly after the American Civil War, The Savage Guns follows Mike Summers, a former Confederate officer who has settled in a small town, married, and hopes to live out his life in peace. His plans are disrupted by Danny Pose, a brutal gunman whose gang terrorizes the town and its residents, including Summers and his wife. Bound by a personal vow against violence, Summers refuses to take up arms, even as conditions worsen. A wandering gunslinger named Steve Fallon arrives and becomes an ally, though he may not be able to face the outlaws on his own.

The 1961 film was directed by Michael Carreras, the first of the five features listed in his directing career, and written by Edmund Morris. It is a British and Spanish co-production from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Tecisa Film and Capricorn, running 83 minutes. Richard Basehart plays Steve Fallon, Don Taylor plays Mike Summers, Alex Nicol plays Danny Pose, and Paquita Rico, José Nieto and Fernando Rey appear in supporting roles.
