Brendan Byers III is one of the wealthiest men in America, but when he tries to enlist during the Second World War he is classified 4-F and barred from serving. Unwilling to accept that answer, he puts his fortune to use and assembles a private fighting force of men who were likewise rejected for service, aiming to take the war to Hitler on his own terms.
Jerry Lewis directed, produced and stars as Byers, working from a screenplay by Gerald Gardner and Dee Caruso. The cast includes Jan Murray, John Wood, Steve Franken, Willie Davis and Dack Rambo, with 33 credited performers in all. The film was made by Warner Bros. Pictures with Jerry Lewis Productions and runs 96 minutes.
It was released in September 1970, seven years after The Nutty Professor, the previous film Lewis had directed. On TMDB it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 10 from 36 votes, a low score from a small sample.
