The Sky Above Zenica

The Sky Above Zenica focuses on the environmental crisis in Zenica, where a massive steel plant releases toxic emissions that endanger the health of the local population. The film follows Samir Lemeš and other activists from Eko Forum as they struggle to implement changes. They face opposition from the corporation and local politicians who prioritize investments and employment over air quality. The narrative highlights the role of Western European countries and the EU, which provide funding while failing to enforce international standards, instead promoting superficial green initiatives like bicycle paths in a heavily polluted environment.

This documentary was co-directed and written by Nanna Frank Møller and Zlatko Pranjić. A co-production between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, and the Czech Republic, the film was produced by Magic Hour Films, HBO Max, and RealStage.
