The Last Supper

A group of liberal graduate students hold a dinner every week at their house, inviting a guest whose views clash with their own to spark debate. After one such evening ends with a guest killed, they bury the body in the garden and carry on with a new purpose: future invitees are tested on their politics, and those judged to be reactionaries are poisoned at the table. Their routine is disrupted by a guest who turns the conversation against them.

Stacy Title directed this 1995 American production from a screenplay by Dan Rosen, her first feature; her second, The Bye Bye Man, followed in 2017. Cameron Diaz appears as Jude, with Ron Eldard as Pete, Annabeth Gish as Paulie, Jonathan Penner as Marc, Courtney B. Vance as Luke and Jason Alexander as a guest. The film runs 92 minutes across comedy, crime, drama and thriller territory, produced by Columbia Pictures with WF/X and The Vault, and carries 26 credited cast members and 108 credited crew.

On IMDb it holds 6.7/10 from 16,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.5/10 from 304 votes. A critics' rating of 6/10 from 38 reviews places it close to the audience scores, suggesting a modest but fairly consistent reception across viewers and critics rather than sharp division.
