Meet the Robinsons
Short description
Lewis is a young inventor living in an orphanage, hoping that the family he never knew might still be found. He builds a machine meant to recover lost memories, but the device draws unwanted attention and is taken by a strange figure in a bowler hat. A boy named Wilbur Robinson appears and brings Lewis forward in time, where he meets Wilbur's unusual household and sees a world full of flying vehicles and talking animals. Saving that future, it turns out, may depend on Lewis himself.
The film was directed by Stephen J. Anderson, his first feature as director; he went on to direct Winnie the Pooh. Anderson also voices several characters, among them the bowler-hatted villain. The voice cast includes Daniel Hansen and Jordan Fry as Lewis, Wesley Singerman as Wilbur, Matthew Josten as Goob and Tom Selleck as Cornelius Robinson. Michelle Bochner Spitz, Aurian Redson and Jon Bernstein wrote the screenplay, and Dorothy McKim produced for Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Released in 2007, the film runs 95 minutes. Against a budget of about 150 million dollars it took in roughly 169 million worldwide, a modest return. On IMDb it holds 6.8/10 from about 121,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.9/10 from a much smaller body of votes. A critics' rating of 6.4/10 from 143 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores.
