Traffic

Natalia and Ginel move from a small village on the Danube in Romania to Rotterdam to find work. After Natalia is assaulted following a meeting with a local man, she seeks assistance from Iță, an acquaintance from her hometown who has become a criminal. This decision leads the characters into a conflict involving class differences and the frustrations of migrant workers, resulting in an ideological robbery that highlights the divide between the wealthy and the poor.

The drama was directed by Teodora Ana Mihai, following her previous works The Package and La Civil, and preceding Heysel 85. The screenplay was written by Cristian Mungiu, who also served as a producer alongside Tudor Reu and Annemie Degryse. The main cast features Anamaria Vartolomei, Ionuț Niculae, Rares Andrici, Thomas Ryckewaert, Macrina Bârlădeanu, and Robert Iovan, with a total of 21 credited actors. This production was a collaboration between companies from Romania, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the Netherlands Antilles. The film has a runtime of 119 minutes and was released on August 7, 2025.
