Billy

This Canadian documentary follows the complex relationship between filmmaker Lawrence Côté-Collins and a man named Billy. After meeting on a film set and becoming friends, Billy attacked Côté-Collins. Years later, while serving a prison sentence for the deaths of two individuals, Billy was diagnosed with schizophrenia. The film explores their subsequent communication through letters and memories, utilizing Billy's own extensive personal video archives to analyze his mental illness and the nature of his crimes.

The film was directed and written by Lawrence Côté-Collins, who also served as a producer alongside Vuk Stojanovic. Côté-Collins appears as herself, while Billy-Denis Poulin appears as himself and Alexandre L'Heureux provides the voice for Billy's letters.
